Hello, I am Larissa Gimmy [gim-ee] not [jim-ee]
I’m a graphic designer from England (with an American accent!) currently based in Southern Virginia. I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, in 2012, and I currently serve as the Graphic Designer for the Division of Facilities at Virginia Tech.
With over a decade of experience, I’ve had the opportunity to work across a wide range of design projects—from stickers, postcards, and brochures to large-scale construction banners, truck wraps, license plates, and bronze plaques. I enjoy the variety that comes with each new project, whether it’s tackling something unique or crafting flyers and posters that truly capture attention.
Working in university environments has also given me the chance to collaborate with student interns, which I find especially rewarding. I enjoy sharing my knowledge while learning from their fresh perspectives—those collaborations continually inspire me to grow and refine my work.
Accessibility is a key focus in my design practice. I hold a certification from the International Association of Accessibility Professionals and am committed to creating materials that meet ADA standards, ensuring they are inclusive and usable for all members of the community.
Having grown up traveling and experiencing a variety of cultures, I bring a global perspective to my work. Those experiences have shaped how I approach design, helping me better understand and connect with diverse audiences in meaningful ways.
